SRS warning light

Apparently a common fault my SRS light stays on. Upon start-up the light comes on brightly and steadily, then after a few seconds it flashes off for an instant (presumably after it has done it's self-test) and then comes back on and sort of pulses slightly, dimmer and brighter.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can determine the cause ?? without the expense of a Main Dealer inteerrogation ??

I have checked and cleaned the connectors under both front seats, but they both seemed OK. However, if there had been a problem, and what I did has sorted it, - would it then need to be reset ?? or would the systyem work out for itself that everything is now OK ??

Unfortunately the only way forward on that is to hook it up and see what faults the srs ecu is seeing.
