I moved my drivers seat back and adjusted the steering wheel and now the SRS light is on and showing an airbag fault. I have checked the yellow plug and wiring underneath the seat and all seems ok, it there something I could have disturbed on the steering wheel? I take it it's a main dealer reset as well? Only into my 3rd day of owning it, have I made a huge error of judgement I ask myself.....

Ignition off, disconnect and re-connect the yellow connectors under both seats a few times, they are the usual culprits. Otherwise diagnostics, buy yourself a Nanocom.:)
If you put your location and told us what car you have it would help, there may be a memeber nearby with diagnostics.

Well had a fiddle and a clean of the plugs and light has gone out! Next job...... Getting the fobs working again, little light flashes and have new batteries, have tried various methods from here to reset them but to no avail...

Try with the FOB next to the off side rear quarter glass, the aerial may have been disconnected due to problems with the RF receiver.
as you have side airbags your car must be year 2000 or later, if the aerial is disconnected re-syncing the FOB's can de difficult.

It's not 2000, it was registered 1999. It's on a T plate and says on the V5 date of first registration 24/03/1999

Try locking the car with the key and press the lock button and then unlock with key and press the unlock button this may work otherwise try the EKA code as your manual instructs you to

When you put the key in the ignition, watch closely to see if the FOB LED flashes, if it does yours has the exciter coil in the ignition and if the RF recever aerial is disconnected, it is difficult to re-sync the FOB's.

Nope doesn't flash and aerial is connected. Perhaps rf receiver unit is goosed?

The FOB LED should flash very briefly when you put the key in on your model year.
RF receiver could well be faulty it's a well documented failure item. You really need it on diagnostis to see if it's receiving a code from the FOB.
