Hi all, I had the Td4 tracking done the other day after changing both wishbones, and after leaving the garage noticed the steering wheel wasn't straight so went straight back, they did it again and still not straight (I know it doesn't really matter but it winds me up...must be OCD!). Anyway, I couldn't be bothered to go back to chimps that tracked it AGAIN so I figured moving the steering wheel round 1 spline would do the trick. BIG MISTAKE, not only was 1 spline too much and now the wheels slightly the other way, but the SRS light is on all the time. I took the airbag off again and checked the connection of the plug, and all seemed OK, but the light is still on. I may have made the mistake of not disconnecting the battery, but don't see how this would matter if the ignition was off anyway, I figured it was just a safety precaution to stop firing the bag by mistake. Any ideas on what might have gone wrong???
Thanks in advance.

It may be reading a fault because you disconnected the airbag without disconnecting the battery. It may be worth getting the fault codes read.

I did consider the rotary coupler, but I didn't fully remove the wheel, only enough to move it round 1 spline which wasn't really far.

As far as the fault codes, I think the brother-in-laws mate has the plug in jobby for most cars, hopefully he can do the Land Rover, I'll give him a call if I can't resolve it.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery, Waiting a couple of minutes and re connecting so that the ecu clears all fault codes.

although im sure most cars have a seperate airbag module so may not work and alot of fault code readers will not turn the srs light of.

worth a try

I have the same problem with the srs lights I ve tried taking battery off and leaving it for 1/2 hour
unplugging plug under seats cleaning connector contacts
ive never had the steering wheel of tho
srs light goes of very briefly when car is started then comes back on permanent
was ok when I bought the car back in june
I believe it has its own separate ecu as well
only thing left is to get it plugged in to a code reader and hopefully reset it
if anyone in the blackpool and surrounding areas can sort it for me there are beer tokens on offer

Finally sorted, mate with the Snap On diagnostics, 'Drivers Airbag High Resistance' probably due to disconnecting, reset light & no more problems, happy days.
