The SRS warning light has been constantly on for the 4 months I have owned my 2000 Freelander 1 V6. I hoped it would be something simple like the under-seat seat belt pre-tensioner connections. I renewed the under seat connectors and took the car to an independent LR service centre to (hopefully) have the fault cleared. Unfortunately, the fault download showed:
1. Airbag control unit fault
2. (Intermittent) Airbag control unit fault
3. (Intermittent) Battery voltage fault

These faults could not be cleared.

Any advice on a logical fault finding process would be appreciated.

I've read that the SRS ECU is a one use item. I've also seen web sites offering to clear the crash code data. I've also seen quite a few used SRS ECUs for sale.

If I fit a used SRS ECU from another vehicle that does not have any recorded crash data, will it work OK?

If it's from a similar year FL1, then yes it should work ok. Be warned that getting to the SRS ECU is a bugger as it's under dash.
