I know the answer, but the question is: Is there a generic fault on these?

Around the same time as my window problem (not fixed yet as work got in the way...Parked George at 06:45 on Monday and only got in & fired her up for the first time yesterday at 15:00. The rest of the week I had a pick up truck with an effluent tank on the back... Neighbours kids were ****ing about with the valves and stuff. I wonder if they got into trouble for the smell :p

Anyway, back on track. So when the window went south & refused to return north, I noticed the SRS Airbag Fault had appeared. Probably not related, but who knows?

So, is there something that is a weak point on the 1999/2000 P38, or am I just lucky? o_O

Also, very possibly related, is the cruise control sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, it depends on the day of the week and if I reversed earlier in the day

I rather think it could be related to the Airbag via the rotary coupler as it is the only thing that connects the two in my mind. Unless of course the clown that invented all the over engineered nonsense like the BECM thought it would be hilarious to make two unrelated things speak to each other and like French ATC, go on strike at the smell of a Boursin & chicken pasta :p

I just asked because if it is a simple check - the - connection - under - the - seat type of fault, then I can do that rather than have Hamish spend ten minutes code reading it since he is a busy man.

He will be getting George this week to try and figure whet the hell is wrong with the window and see if I am imagining the slight wayward lean is due to the "sensors" (I call them volume controls or potentiometers) or if the car is drunk on all that LPG :D

He will also be checking the MAF to see if it is that at fault or simply the fuel trim needing recalibrated.

Anyway, I plan to post a bit on What Have You Done To Your P38 regarding the beautiful insertions I made yesterday....;)

Cheers

Andi :)

Just fit springs and all the other faults will go away.
The air is bad as an earth connection, springs are made of steel and are good conductors hence all other problems are solved.
Sprung p38s have happy owners.

Fixed that for you.

Ha ha ha, funny :D

You misunderstand, my driving airbags are in excellent working order, it's the sudden stopping ones that are flagging up a fault, hence SRS ;)

Usual problem is yellow wire connector under seats. They become loose with seat movement. Switch ignition off and disconnect reconnect a few times that usually does the trick. Other than that diag.

That was my thoughts on it, but I thought I would ask since these motor's tend to spit the dummy for no apparent reason

It did it a few times before I changed the battery, then it did it once more with the new battery. But now it's on as long as the ignition is on, so needs a slap.

Thank you Wammers ;)

I pulled the wire a few times, (ooh err missus  ) and it's all good, no more lamp/warning... until next time :p

Rivets, trousers and cheese :D

Aye, probably. The whole electrical system might need it after lying on it's arse for 5 years

Still, it's doing well so far....
