I know the answer, but the question is: Is there a generic fault on these?
Around the same time as my window problem (not fixed yet as work got in the way...Parked George at 06:45 on Monday and only got in & fired her up for the first time yesterday at 15:00. The rest of the week I had a pick up truck with an effluent tank on the back... Neighbours kids were ****ing about with the valves and stuff. I wonder if they got into trouble for the smell
Anyway, back on track. So when the window went south & refused to return north, I noticed the SRS Airbag Fault had appeared. Probably not related, but who knows?
So, is there something that is a weak point on the 1999/2000 P38, or am I just lucky?
Also, very possibly related, is the cruise control sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, it depends on the day of the week and if I reversed earlier in the day
I rather think it could be related to the Airbag via the rotary coupler as it is the only thing that connects the two in my mind. Unless of course the clown that invented all the over engineered nonsense like the BECM thought it would be hilarious to make two unrelated things speak to each other and like French ATC, go on strike at the smell of a Boursin & chicken pasta
I just asked because if it is a simple check - the - connection - under - the - seat type of fault, then I can do that rather than have Hamish spend ten minutes code reading it since he is a busy man.
He will be getting George this week to try and figure whet the hell is wrong with the window and see if I am imagining the slight wayward lean is due to the "sensors" (I call them volume controls or potentiometers) or if the car is drunk on all that LPG
He will also be checking the MAF to see if it is that at fault or simply the fuel trim needing recalibrated.
Anyway, I plan to post a bit on What Have You Done To Your P38 regarding the beautiful insertions I made yesterday....
Cheers
Andi
