Hi All,

I've got an anoying squeak coming from the front of my 94 TDi (200)
Here's the symptoms....
Only sqeals when driving with the gas on. If i lift the pedal it stops and if I brake it seems to quieten down.
I've just changed the front pads and cleaned it all up and copper greased it all.
I've checked the water pump (thats what it sounds like) and its ok... sprayed WD40 on the belts to see if that was it.
I can't generate the noise unless i'm actualy driving and its driving me mad!
It sounds almost as if somethings trapped in the caliper and is rubbing against the disc.
My next investigation will be the bearing but before I spend any more of my hard earned has anyone got any ideas?

A few years back before I started doing the LR services etc... we had a brake kit put on, however the garage never bothered to put the full kit on. This resulted in an anoying noise which dissapeared with braking, we told them about this, and they said, oh yea we will get you some new springs (I later learn't this was part of the kit anyway) so it may be the springs... now I hear you ask, what springs, well I am not sure, I can only assume they are the pad springs.

I have a similar squeak when I drive. It is relevant to the speed of the wheel. Inspection on and off hoist hasnt turned anything up. The mechanic says all is well, wheel bearings are fine, brakes ok etc, but it is only noticable when driving slowly...yeah I know...drive fast :D

There is a knob on the dash for getting rid of annoying little squeaks in most cars...its called the radio volume knob!
