Hi,recently picked up 54 series 1,a bit altered,with 2,2diesel and 11 leaf springs all round,it's as solid as a rock any thoughts on changing to parabolic springs 2 leaf front 3 leaf rear
 
Hi the leaf springs do separate for derusting and lubricating they work well after that, you can also have a search on here about parabolics some like em some don’t

If you cannot be bothered with a full strip down like that you can cheat and achieve almost the same results by doing what I did with mine. thoroughly clean them, and wire wheel the outside of them, spend a week spraying them with a mixture of ATF and diesel (or proper penetrating fluid if you don't want a diy approach). Then put about half a ton in the back and spend a week driving over as many speed bumps as you can while continuing to spray down with the atf mixture. This will break them free and get them moving again at which point as above the ride will drastically improve. As with most things in good conditions they work very well but when neglected are what give land rover a bad name.
 
Thanks for all your comments on parabolic v leaf springs,my springs have been on for 20 years and this landy hasn't done much so I think I will strip,clean and regrease them first before shelling out more
