Sport header fitting issues

Hi. Can somebody shed some light on this problem. I bought these headers from Sodbury last spring. They had come off a 3.9 disco. I am trying to fit them onto my 3.5 RRC but the angle of the exit is lined up nicely with the cross member. Is this cross member different on Disco's? Am I being a pillock and somehow fitting them wrong? Any advice welcome before I try to straighten the bend at the end.









And before anyone says the yellow breather pipes are to close they are not fixed yet.

I'm assuming the gearbox cross member is slightly different on a 3.9 Discovery? the y piece on my classic fits above the cross member and meets the downpipes.

So I guess you could either try and straighten the pipe or cut if off and weld it to the correct angle.

Will look on a Disco in a bit but from memory they are fairly similar.

So. Does anyone have a cross member from a Disco for sale?

The disco gearbox crossmember is completely different to yours. A mate tried to fit a RRC 3.9 manifolds to his disco and it wouldn't fit he bought the correct manifolds and there was a difference.

Ye cheers. I have found that on flebay. Bit more than I wanted to spend but cheaper than a new set of headers.

Silly question but will the disco cross member definitely fit a RRC? I know they are supposed to be the same chassis.

Hi Stu, IIRC I was once told there are actually 3 different types of "y" pipe depending on whether you have an early or late RRC whether it is manual or auto and whether or not it has cats. The cross members are different between early RRC and later ones. So I guess that the headers will be slightly different too. Anyway that's my two pence worth (if it's worth that much!)

Yeah the crossmember will fit the are the all same length just different shapes if you look on the microcat parts book there's three different ones just for discos
