Hi Guys again . OK so I have changed the Crankshaft position sensor for a new one after a bit of a struggle doing the job with the starter motor in place but it's done , come to start the motor and it started up ok and several times after but I took it for a test drive today and the motor is running rough with not a lot of power and I'm getting black smoke out of the exhaust . I'm sure I didn't change anything else whilst I was doing the job so suggestions please .

Have you dislodged or split a boost pipe when doing the job?

Well spotted , After I came back from a test drive and then stated the rough running and smoke I hadn't actually lifted the bonnet before I came on the forum . Now I've been under the bonnet low and behold the Intercooler pipe had blown off due to a dodgy jubilee clip so now it has a fresh clip and seems to be ok . When I was looking for problems regarding the bad starting I was not looking forward to changing the Crankshaft position sensor because of where it is positioned . I did decide to leave the starter motor in place and with the aid of an endoscope and torches managed the job ok . Thanks to everyone who helped with suggestions and advice .
