Splines

Hi guys just been hearing people talk,about swapping a 10 spline axle for a 24 out of a discovery, what difference does it make how many splines you have ??

24 spline is stronger than 10 spline and all 24 spline have the narrower hubs allowing more choice in wheels

Thanks James I have 10 spline in my 90 and I'm trying to eliminate the shuddering clunking coming from the transmission, just wondered if 24 spline was the way forward.

if your fault lies with your rear axle then quite possibly ,but it might help with driving in dif lock with each prop off in turn

I Get the shuddering normally when the steering is on full lock first thing in the morning or when I go into reverse first thing in morning gets better as the vehicle warms up

Maybe stub axle bush/ lube as I have had all makes stub axle dump bush out
