Spill off pipes decided to start leaking.

Well,

As the title says, Have not used the 300tdi 90 for a few days, parked up on my steep drive nose down.

Came back home after popping out this morning and have found a fresh pool of diesel slowly meandering down the drive.
Had a look and there is a lot of fresh diesel coming from the front injector spill off pipe, pulled it off and diesel is coming out of the hard plastic fuel return pipe. Am off to get a 1m of new 3.2mm ID spill off pipe now.

But scratching my head as to why it had a sudden failure when nothing has moved or changed for a few days.

Have to love the Landy.

At least its a cheap fix, some cars the leak off pipe is one piece for all 4/6 cylinders and can cost 100 odd quid!
 
Already done.

£2.82 / M with some free clamps.... Just very strange the way it has sat there for a couple of days and all of a sudden , Diesel was leaking and it was leaking very well.....LOL.
The ends of all of them were starting to split.

Did you use a local motor factor, neilly? I'll be replacing mine for the engine rebuild. It's interesting that the end was splitting. Mine was solid and I couldn't pull it off the injector, had to cut it off.

iirc, the old ones were from a LR supplier on the bay, sorry cannot remember who from, but they were only 4 Years old.

New pipe was from GSF car parts, as they are local, had a 55% discount on car parts this weekend and had the pipe available today. Plus I have half a metre left over to keep in the spares bag.

Cheers, neilly. Mine must be the original pipe and it's like bell metal!
Got home this afternoon after being away for a week. Bolted the engine stand together when I got home, forecast good so......... hopefully, the engine will just pop out tomorrow. :)
 
Oh, I know the stuff,

It is the same stuff that is used on the pipe that goes back to the pump. I had to cut that pipe off as it was not going to come off. To replace it required buying the pipe including the fittings, I came to the conclusion the hard plastic pipe is not meant to be replaced.

When you said the hard plastic return pipe, that's what I thought you meant. I haven't looked close enough to see if I need any fittings on the other end so that's a good heads up. It's not knowing stuff like that, first time around, that slows you down.
