I have an early model freelander (1998) 1.8 Petrol. Where can I get a speedometer pulse from??

In my previous cars I fitted speedometer pulse generators to the speedometer drive cable.

As the freelander dash is digital is it as simple as connecting to one of the wires coming from the speedometer transducer on the gearbox??

I have a later type freelander sat nav system that I can't use as the harness wont fit an early model. The iSO connectors allow me to use it as an audio system, but just need the speedometer pulse.

Any ideas guru's??

Thanks

Steve.

Hi,
I saw your earlier 2006 query about you 1998 Freelander speedo. Mine 1998 one has just stopped working and am not sure what to do about it. Did you have any luck? Thanks.
regards,
Tony Rands.

I managed to get a speed pulse from the wire mentioned above - simply spliced into it and wired to a spare pin on my radio ISO connectors.

Have you checked your fuses?? also might be worth having a look behind the instruments - from memory there are two connectors at the back.

On a 1991 Range Rover classic that the family owned the speedometer used to stop working if the brake light fuse blew....

Regards,

Steve
