:confused2: can anyone shed some light as to why my ex mod 90 on a c plate with a 2.5 n/a engine wont get over 50 to 55 mph.

thanks for the replies , wasnt sure if something was wrong with it , just bought it from flea bay a couple of months ago from a bloke in cornwall took me 17 hours of driving to get home , worth it though

after the original colour of green someone painted it marroon and cream but now it is olive drab ( rollered on ) fantastic , when i scrape it while i am out i just roller a new layer on , hey presto , , , , green again

My Dad had a N/A 90 years ago and 70mph was the best it ever gave on the flat, did 80 downhill once though and I think that was on 6.50/16 tyres.
The 200TDI he had afterwards was nothing short of a revelation.....

it hasn`t got oversized tyres on and yes it is quicker at getting to it`s top speed of 55 . least i now know it is supposed to be like that.
cheers:doh:

I run from Leeds to Ipswich once every two weeks or so in my 1986 2.5 N/A with 235x85xR16 tyres and I can achieve 70 on the flat, 65 is usually the sweet spot, and sometimes 75 towards 80 down hill. I did give the whole thing a full rebuild not long ago though and it does scream at these speeds. I have also adjusted the fuel pump timing and set it sweet so that it runs perfectly.
Remove the oil filler cap when the engine is running and up to temperature. Is there a lot of blow by?

I've got a G reg 90 2.5 TD and I've got it up to 80 downhill.

There's a particulary steep hill in the next village that I crawl up at 40.

Not your typical 17 year old boy racer.

i also have 235/85/16 on my landy , friend of mine suggested today that it need`s a good service. not realy blowing anything out of the ordinary from the oil filler cap i wouldn`t say , but then again i dont know a great deal about it:doh:
