Hi
I've looked at a number of threads now about replacing my speakers in 2005 TD4 3d. I actually took the passenger door speaker out so I could take with me to find a replacement. I've just get back from Halfords looked at the fli speakers as suggested !!!! how do you get them to fit,the speaker cone dia is greater than that of the OEM speaker and PCD of the location screw hole is totally different. And finally the mounting depth who designed this door, it appears that the average speaker depths 57 - 60 mm. Please point me to an up to date thread not a 3 year old one.

You're in luck, I just fitted speakers this very morning!

The main problem is that no speaker is going to line up with the oddly spaced holes of the standard speaker. I looked at every option, and decided to mount my new pioneer speakers directly onto the door card instead of the door frame.

I removed the original speaker grille and surface mounted the new speaker and grille on the outside, using the 4 existing grille holes which are spaced a bit more normally!

I then siliconed any voids at the rear round the circumference and applied a sheet of dynamat to the back of the door card, and another sheet to the door frame.

This stuff has really made a difference, no more buzzy speakers, just a real depth to the sound, so then I finally fitted the new grille covers and re attached door card

These are the rear speakers, fronts were done exactly the same, and surface mounting gives an extra bit of mounting depth which really helped the big magnets avoid the window glass! The only thing to watch out for on the fronts is the glove box door clearance on the speaker grille, mines a bit neat!!!

took the car into the local landy specialist and the guy there told me that the speaker are almost certainly OK freelander are apparently known for bad wiring at the back of the radio problem is there a big to get at.
