The girlfriend recently bought her first defender 90. The current radio was ****e and the buttons did random things.
I had a spare head unit lying around so thought I'd treat her to a bit of an upgrade.

I bought her 4x Fli Integrator 4 speakers at £20 a pair, 50 watts RMS each :)
Chose these because I know Fli are good quality and good value. As far as I understand, Fli speakers are the old Vibe models re-branded and sold at less than they were with the Vibe badge.

I have made some MDF rings for the front speakers because the replacements are slightly deeper than the originals. They still need cutting and sanding yet but will post pics when completed.

I have also built a little speaker shelf to mount on the back of the cubby box for the two rear speakers. Initially the idea was to mount a couple of 6x9's at angles there but when I measured up I realised it was going to be a tight squeeze. If its lacking bass and shes lucky I might build a new cubby box with 6x9's built in but for now this will do.

The build so far

Just knocked up out of some old mdf I had lying around. The dimensions of the top are 12" by 6" and the rads start where the edges of the cubby box will be.

More pics to come when I have finish and installed.

You're not worried about stereo separation then?

Sorry, a Defender, silly of me.

I said you're . .

oh forget it.

Yea I know its not ideal, still has the fronts in stereo. The original idea was to angle them towards the seats, its just too tight down there to knock something up quick.

Tbh I wont be driving it and if I asked her if she was worried about it I'd just get a blank face back.
