Spare wheel question

I am about to change my tyre size from 235.85/16 to 265/75/16. My current spare wheel and tyre are unused, can I still use this in case of emergency or should I replace it with another 265/75/16 to match the new four tyres?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Yes. the rolling circumference is virtually the same on both tyre sizes.

Because Freelanders use a viscous (hydraulic fluid) centre differential, and not a mechanical locking one. The difference in rolling circumference of any wheels will result in different drive shaft speeds. This will in turn damage the centre viscous coupling.
