Hi all can anyone recommend a good swing away spare wheel carrier for my 2003 Td5 hardtop. The Britpart one looks ok for the price- any good or do I need to spend more?
Cheers

Britpart on mine, bought 2nd hand off a mate 4 odd years ago still looks okay, grease nipples on the pivots, it used to rattle but I think I put a little bit of rubber packing so it had some tension on it when the door was shut.
Biggest issue with all spare wheel carriers is wheel security, especially if you have something tasty to hang on it, locking wheel nuts not really the answer.

Thanks Lynall and Doriz. The Mantech one also seems to get good reviews but it's dearer. I'll have a butchers at the Terrafirma one. Does the piston arrangement on the Britpart for the door work ok?

To be fair I cant even remember whats under the wheel!
I do remember slathering it in grease when fitting the piston/rod thingy and er thats it.

Just googled and the one I have appears to be britpart DA2232, which looks identical to the Mantec version.
If you want to scare yourself look at TMDtunings offering, very nice but over 500 quid

Thanks both I'll probably go for a LR/ Mantech one on flea bay. All seem to be around the £200 mark anyway. £500 a bit steep! Thanks again guys.

I have the britpart one (DA2232) and it's held up really well over the 6 years. the slidder to the door has been no issues at all. I needed to spray some lube into it everyone now and then. But been very solid.
