- does anyone have experience of the following "All-Season" tyres on a Freelander 1, 3 door, pre-facelift, TD4 [2003] please? The first two are mid-price, whilst the latter is a "cheapie" [I can't believe tyre prices now]. If the latter is any good at its job, it only has to last 2/3rds as long as the more expensive ones to pay for itself. My wheels are 225x55x17 and my driving is 80% road, 20% muddy, inclined track [snowy, muddy, inclined track at the moment]. The Cooper CS4 have a great review but no-one on here seems to use them. The Vector 4 Seasons come out slightly worse but still good. The Star Performer SPTS AS have surprisingly good comments/scores for the price but I don't want to introduce lots of road-noise or shake, rattle and roll to the car.

The other influencing factor is that I don't do many miles [7000 a year], so I'd be stuck with the decision for a long time. So, the choices are:-

* Cooper CS4 Touring at £136 each [fitted]
* Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons at £141 each [fitted], rated "C", "E" and "70" [although why it has an "E" for wet grip but otherwise good marks for wet grip is beyond me]
* Star Performer SPTS AS at "only" £88 each [fitted], rated "E", "C" and "71"

Thanks very much for any input. Cheers, Steve

Pirelli Scorpion STR on mine. fitted cheap tyres last time and would never do it again, the noise was terrible.

For the price you won't get a better tyre. The link below is where I got mine and they were fitted for that price at a local tyre fitter within four days of ordering.

his first post and it's about tyres????

straight into the freelander section!!!!!!!!!

no introduction neither

and you answer him

It's what keeps forums like this going. :) And it's a genuine question as it will save him coming here in two months saying I've got a droning noise "help"

No its a fcuking tyre question, no need for any kind of help on that. Google will suffice if he bothered instead of getting you to provide help that he thinks he is "entitled to"

If everybody googled everything about LR's there wouldn't be a forum. Ok perhaps he should have introduced himself but to be honest it dosen't bother me if he did or not. Somebody came on the forum asking for help I provided an answer, if we don't hear from him again so what I know I have helped somebody out tonight and I'm happy with that. I've had lots of help myself over the years since I first joined the forum and I have not got a problem passing on the information I have gained over the years to somebody who ask's for it.

It makes them more dependant, a question deserves an answer when an OP goes about getting it in the right manner this is not one of those occasions

you will go through 8 tyres with the cheap before you wear out a cooper.
What is the mileage guarantee with the cheap fooker?

Go to there sites and see how they are rated believe cooper comes with a 60,000 mile warranty and have a stronger side wall look at the specs, it is not rocket science............ Just do a search
