3mm LEDs for the sidelights, again warm white

1507152_10152983184395730_4761883859688450471_n.jpg

10805603_10152983184195730_4523907826089300336_n.jpg

How they will look in the spots when I have made the spot light loom up

10407542_10152983184020730_3560199800359952534_n.jpg

Also just an example of why I was fussy over the colour of the LEDs, here are the ones that came with the spotlights, I wont be using these, but look how blue and unnatural they look

10606155_10152983184095730_6873150050965844216_n.jpg

Also mounted the tyre I will be using on the spare wheel

10858383_10152983183800730_1373588819743881429_n.jpg

10846215_10152983183685730_3570251184846396885_n.jpg

And one of the chunkier ones just to see what it looks like

10615344_10152983183590730_241402142710506293_n.jpg

The actual kit is currently going through customs so hopefully wont be long :)

So I figured out the wheels were actually 3 part beadlocks, with the assembly held together by a hub and the 5 screws disguised as the lug nuts

1613885_10152985263990730_1465824178015938458_n.jpg

The tyre can now be mounted with the beads locked in just like a real tyre

10306073_10152985265725730_3872739222860151364_n.jpg

10418932_10152985265360730_8836598488585780599_n.jpg

Also roughly cut these out, will require proper trimming when the kit arrives

10301211_10152985275950730_256980977472379284_n.jpg

Small update, got the rest of my lights made up, 8 in total now

2x 3mm warm white for sidelights
2x 3mm red for rear lights
2x 5mm warm white for headlights
2x 5mm warm white for front spot lights

10885602_10152994375160730_8075245012264198519_n.jpg

10314476_10152994376270730_8721194225039077495_n.jpg

The whole loom

10393700_10152994374140730_1434760679290817657_n.jpg

I have also made a seperate pair of 3mm for the work lights on the back of my real one, however I wont know until the scale lights Iv ordered will look right or not. Either way they will be on a seperate switch

10170745_10152357667545730_7822385996339885782_n.jpg

So whlst stuill waiting for customs to do some work, I made up the rear work lights out of a spot light kit i ordered and made some custom mounts that pretty much resemble the real lights

10609489_10153001397975730_4382699135498656138_n.jpg

10846210_10153001397915730_503853245022250424_n.jpg

They are also hooked up to a seperate RC channel so I can switch them on and off independant of the main lights

10898182_10153001397860730_508502999146917069_n.jpg

This 3m fine line masking tape came today, to be used for masking and spraying curved edges, is quite nice to use actually

10888840_10153001397750730_8754552399276595902_n.jpg

Ok got more updates

Added tin foil to the inside of the work light buckets. Gives it a bit more realism imo

1461384_10153003548590730_8047822134450865980_n.jpg

I ordered some nicer spot lights for the front A-bar, however they were chrome inside and out, I wanted them black on theoutside and chrome on the inside, so used some of this

10897053_10153004830475730_7415408021952103101_n.jpg

Like this

10407941_10153004830275730_900548762465538093_n.jpg

Smoothed off some of the moulding lines and primed them

10885067_10153004829505730_7522285714452249197_n.jpg

While that was drying I also had arrive today some lengths of 6mm styrene rod, that I plan to make the front A-Bar out of, here is a piece I used just to practice bending it etc with heat, also doubles up as something to hold the spot lamps to spray them on

10603749_10153005210760730_8579174313621743065_n.jpg

then applied matt black

10676382_10153005310705730_407760156167231824_n.jpg

And removed the maskol inside to leave the chrome

10389077_10153005310770730_4373578045714919750_n.jpg

Lenses on

10898295_10153005349010730_5535266117992170719_n.jpg

Final thing to arrive today was a 1/10 scale radiator kit

10897041_10153004830125730_235697987960930315_n.jpg

Coat of tank grey first

10898236_10153005210640730_59516591259727299_n.jpg

and the fans on the back

10906138_10153005210505730_3486690343912540400_n.jpg

Thats all for today

Well the parcel is in Coventry so shouldnt be long now :) perhaps Monday if Im lucky.

So pretty much finished my home made A Bar

Dimensions I required, 86mm means it will line up with the chassis rails perfectly just like the real one. Cut a length then bent it up using heat.

10898239_10153027136875730_1919971006310350799_n.jpg

Next I bent in the kink in the bottom of the legs, to give the fog lights clearance at the back, again the real one has this. Also glued the feet on, now these are massively bigger than they will end up being, they will only be about 7mmx7mm to match similar dimensions of the welded on plates of the real one. This will then be attached to the bumper by means of 3 M1.6 per leg into the bumper.

Test fit fog lights

10906136_10153027136090730_8194623185523482295_n.jpg

Wet sanded the whole thing and primered

10897840_10153027135620730_8653632340337825205_n.jpg

Its worth mentioning that I didnt bother smoothing the glue around the edges of the bottom of the legs where it joins as it does a nice job of replicating the weld lines

After coat of black gloss

10891491_10153027169185730_6815050782188028768_n.jpg

6277_10153027169475730_79490650548621400_n.jpg

All thats left is to cut those feet to size and drill the holes for the bolts.

Out of boredom I gave the snorkel a bit of a tidy up around the edges and sprayed it a more matt black, then I made some replica axle breather hoses, the hoses are thin strips of wire, the replica cable ties are thin strips of shrink wrap I cut then shrunk

Top job!
Looking forward to the main build, which if current parts are anything to go by, the final result should be a stunner!

So my box finally arrived, well actually I went to get it

10418216_10153038717820730_2570991770544244984_n.jpg

10892031_10153038718635730_7909916716789677576_n.jpg

First job is to take all the axles apart and pack with grease as they only come lightly coated

10885502_10153038695465730_5167086633746989021_n.jpg

10906245_10153038694095730_6646469769922391656_n.jpg

Final job for this evening, I purchased a resin scale fuel filler cap/unit as the one on the model isnt accurate to my vehicle and needs relocation too

10636294_10153038693040730_4881633964919476060_n.jpg

10917883_10153038692870730_2482058763478198747_n.jpg

Test mounted the new one, not permanently as has to be sprayed seperately

16808_10153038691915730_8740640986637233059_n.jpg

Also bought a rear handle for the back door

10898291_10153038691730730_2203206477449316160_n.jpg

That's where I left it tonight

Todays update, working a bit slowly today as have had stinking cold

Cut this plate out from behind the rad, so I can run spot light wires, and mount my rad that I painted, also allows me to offset the grill a bit futher in as its a bit close to the spot lights

1425586_10153046156380730_3532135867472943064_n.jpg

So talking of spot lights I mounted by A bar and spots

10915278_10153046155665730_3179687258682531031_n.jpg

Set about removing the moulding lines off the body, the main ones are here, the rest are quite well disguised but I did them all anyway

10003423_10153046155150730_3641426611838582920_n.jpg

Bit of wet and dry later

10438599_10153046154960730_3747031435521612811_n.jpg
