Hi Guys,

i'm in the process of stripping my fathers long forgotten about RRC, it has full heated and electric memory leather seats.

originally i planned to just whip the seat loom out and plug it up to my disco, but the RRC uses a hardwired seat ECU.

im not concerned about losing the memory function on the drivers side as long as it works electrically.

I have searched endlessly for 2 days and a few people have ditched the system in favour of wiring up to...and i quote "bunch of relays"

i've printed off wiring diagrams and worked out all the colours for each function but to me... i cant even see the relays on the diagram ....either that or i need 8 per seat!? :( sorry for being stupid!

The seat has 8 live feeds to the motor, and reversing its polarity reverses the motion.

so far i have got to the point of the seats functioning (on the dining room floor!) using the relay wired as so..

86 ignition positive
85 common ground
30 seat switch
87 seat motor

however i've used 2 relays to get the seat to go backwards and forwards and there are 8 functions on the seat..... something tells me i'm wiring it up wrong :pound:

if any circuit wizzs could help me out id be much appreciated...

and just because people like to see photos, this is my disco with the range rovers dash conversion

Sorry about the mess in the photos, we've had wind and rain every ten minutes so ive had to chuck everything in the car and dart inside!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Sam

Yes the idea would be to use 8 relays, one for each power command.

Don't bother, use heavy duty two way momentary switches.

I can't find pics of what I did to mine but basically 4 switches, for the fore and aft, tilting of the back, raising and lowering of the seat, the lumbar support thingy.

It is easy enough, I made a small console on the seat box but I only ended up fitting the fore, aft and back rest tilting ones as once the others were set up they could be forgotten.

Sounds just like mine although I thought it was.....
  • Seat base forward/backward
  • Seat base front up/down
  • Seat base rear up/down
  • Seat back tilt forward/backward
