Some pics of Sunday lane exploring

Well, finally I got my laptop runing with the OS maps and a bluetooth GPS antenna, so now I can go anywhere and just look where's the nearest lane and check it out..

So yesterday I went for a quick lane exploring trip around Newbury, to test the gps and laptop system..
the lanes are a bit over grown!

had to move a branch out of the way as it was just over my bonnet across the width of the lane..


ha!! this will do it, I'll just stick this soggy branch under here...

started to get a bit too narrow...


and then just got ridiculously narrow...


so narrow, I had to go back and get the top of snorkel!


but I found it!!!


and that's it... after this I got fed up and went down to Salisbury plain for a play on the dirt bike.

why didnt you say you went to the plain would of met ya there !!!

I dont know anyone from here mate.. except Stretchie that is...

I've been keeping an eye though, for next time people go out to see if I can join though.

Now will be easy to navigate around the planes with the GPS system on.
I have all the play areas marked on the map.

But yesterday I was only at Everleigh car park playing around on the dirt bike (which is a pit bike that fits on the back of the disco)
The plains are very dry at the moment, was speaking with the range warden the other day asking for a place with mud where I could play and he basically said almost everything is dry...

yep your right a few of the sluts went there a few weeks back and reported back , hard dried baked mud not much water if ya want to come around 30 miles south of the plaines theres plenty of lanes to do in dorset with some water crossings too

im not am illion miles away from you mate, i can let you know next time i am out and about if you like, although i tend to be in hertfordshire, surrey or hampshire these days coz there isnt much my way

I got snorkel mate, and new suspension, +1" lift

Fitted the snorkel on Sunday ( I hope it's water tight) and still to get around to fitting the suspension as I have to fit new disks and pads while I'm at it. Could be a completley different Disco to when you saw it last

Yep, it's Memory Map OS 5, but as I use OS maps at work (with MapInfo) I have the whole country too

snorkel? good... all we need now is rain.
we found a good place to test a snorkel on the plains...
the pic below is Loz testing his snorkel after we fitted it the weekend before, this pic was taken on the 7th of June.... not sure how it is now, might be completly dry..

I love the overgrown stuff ... but I always go back each season and take more pics, I just like the changeability we have in UK.

Nice pics JP! Where is that water on the plains where Loz tested his snorkel. Stretchie might correct me, but I don't recognise that!
So.....now you've got memory map, you better mark out that water trap we managed to get you stuck in....lol

water? was more mud than anything..lol

that place where Loz is diving is near the Seven sisters hill, that white hill with loads of tank tracks with the out of bounds signs.

Put a plastic bag over the end and see if the engine dies If it is air tight, it is water tight

Aha, that (nearly) was my first test. I put the placcy bag that the snorkel top was in against it and the engine began choking so I took it away.
