Dam thing. I really wish I didn't worry about putting it back on the road :(

Driving back from Bishops Stortford the other day and the temp gauge starts climbing up to the red, pull over and there was water in the coolant bottle and in the rad so carry on. Climbs again, if I ease off the needle will drop within 20 seconds back to normal - put my foot down again (climbing to 70mph) and it will start to heat up again

Got back home and checked again, there is water in the coolant system and no leaks on the driveway

One thing I did notice when coming back through the town was when accelerating with the heater turned up on full on hot is that it would be more blowy than then idling at lights for example. Like the speed of the heater is a direct reflection on the rpm of the engine?? The heaters blow hot.

Any ideas?

Working through same issues today myself. Could you have a air lock in the system ? Others then have suggested issues with water pump or clogged up radiator. I am going to flush coolant and fill it back up to see whether that helps with mine. Good luck

Glad you suggested water pump. Something is whaling like a banshee under there and I don't think it is the tensioner as it isn't the usual bird under the bonnet noise. I didn't want to say anything in the orig post incase it skewed the thoughts of others

Anyway I have a water pump for delivery by euro car parts tomorrow along with some other bits so will fit it and see what happens.

Would make sense if bearings are almost seized it will only want to turn at higher rpm.

Interesting mine has a loud whine on start up sometimes as well... Same thing? However when I turn it off and then on again it goes. Hope water pump sorts it

Water pump changed and the squealing noise is gone!! YIP YIP YIPEEEEEE!!

Small matter of a leaking auto oil cooler to deal with now :(

Fitted a new battery to it today as well as the old one stopped holding its charge.
