So what do you carry

tools , shackles and strops , oil , wd40 , tape , para cord , ratchet straps , folding shovel , blanket , sleeping bag ,fire steel , **** off knife (well hidden from the eyes of plod), camping stove , bottle water , tea bags an sugar , tins soup and beans ,wax jacket and trousers , baby wipes and nappy and change of clothes for the littlest one , and 50kg rocksalt and a full sized shovel

in summer i take out the salt and big shovel , and add a six pack of coke

Engine fan (have it removed as have electric)

Hi-Lift, waffle boards (outside car)

Some cushions
Ratchet Straps + Luggage straps
Compressor
Electrical tape
Jump leads
Umm I think thats about it.

Basically, I am lazy, I don't unpack after going on trips and its better than having it all the house!

Permanently in Disco:

1/2 inch breaker bar & 27mm socket. Hi-Vis jacket, several bungee's, ratchet strap, basic tools, anti-freeze, oil, water, power steering fluid, spare bulbs, fuse's, small air compressor, jump lead's, cable tie's, insulation tape, scissor's/knife, torch, maps & road atlas, wheel chock, jack, 2 person survival bag and a blanket ... oh and milk, sugar & ketchup! Need to add a decent tow rope/shackles to this lot then I'll be happy.

Thing's I change around are extra clothes/shoe's for myself, Mrs. & the kids, so that they don't get damp.

The Mrs. thinks why bother when we've got AA recovery:doh:
 
Something, anything and everything !!!!

Generally always carry a basic toolkit, sockets, spanners, stanley knife etc, cable ties, lump hammer, spade, shackles, bridle, short lifting strop and decent towrope. Blanket, couple of wood blocks, zipup polybag for wellies, extra coat, hat gloves, spare workgloves, first aid kit, small fire extinguisher, cb and mobile phone. I also include the standard 27mm wheel nut, alongside a dual size socket for other 'normal' car wheels and extending bar (surprisingly good for a cheap thing!) I carry very few spares, serpentine belt (old one but good enough to replace a snapped one, even if it squeaks, rubber donut for rear prop, various nuts and bolts, a UJ, UJ nut socket, Hubnut spanner, and various other small bits, nuts, bolts, washers, bulbs, wiring and crimp connectors, insulation tape etc.

I also mostly carry a gallon of fresh drinking water, a can of oil, Duct tape, WD40, small bottle of brake/clutch fluid and anything else I chuck in the box, like a torch, small tie-downs, small tie-ropes/straps etc. Puncture repair kit, small compressor, ball of string (You wouldn't believe how often i've needed this) England flag, extra gloves, wipes, cloths, a towel ...

When off-roading or laning with or without a group I add a Hi-Lift, more ropes/strops/shackles and a chain set made up with hooks to turn the Hi-Lift into a winch .. can't afford a decent Tirfor so this'll do ... ;) I also add extra wood chocks/a small plank, a couple of rebars and a Marquee tent peg (about 3' long with a good head on it) to use as a ground anchor if necessary, small bow-saw and hand-axe (though that's lent to a mate and not replaced yet!). I often also take a complete change of clothes and shoes/boots and some means of cooking, small gas stove, pan & kettle and tea/coffee makings, cans of soup, bacon, buttered bread/rolls etc .. and a small pop-up tent and sleeping bag! ... ;)

It's amazing how often the lists change though ... lend someone a thing and forget to replace it, swap something for something else and find you need it. The lists above are (I think) pretty basic really ... :)

I also always carry a Swiss Army penknife with me .... absolutely invaluable ... ;)
 
G-Man commented earlier re block of wood for Jacking (Landybird carries one and so do others it appears). I am assuming this is to take make a standard jack and work for LR's....or am I being thick as Sh%t. ?
 
A standard jack will need screwed out to reach the axle/chassis, if you could put it on a block of wood to save screwing the jack out it will make the whole thing a bit more stable. Also on soft ground a block/short piece of scaffholding board will stop the jack from sinking.

i use it because i only carry a bottle jack which has a small base, put it on even slightly soft ground and it'll sink lol, plus the block of wood gives it a bit more stabilty;) does also mean i don't have to pump the jack up as far lol so is quicker:D

forgot to mention the first aid kit i carry as well, you never know when hubs might fancy trying to chop the other hand off with a chainsaw:eek::doh:

that sounds very much like the back of the 90 you can never have to much kit with you more so when you are laning in the middle of nowhere
 
i carry i tool box mixed ,t/roop @ shackles, high beam lamp,water,oil,leather man never without this. something to drink/smoke.
and bsa ultra ss .22 carbine (nighthawk sights ,sas moderator,fitted lamp, i love rabbit)
and a 177 for the rats,Cami suit etc,
no were for shopping so empty it out again
yes they are fixed and locked down.

With regards to the Anderson Plugs, is there sole purpose for jump starting the battery or are they also used for other applications? Just interested as there is an Anderson Socket on the rear of my 90 and I near really knew what it was for, I also have one of those HELLA type sockets mounted on the rear body work, does anyone know what these are used for?

They can also be used as a 12v power source external to the vehicle ... compressor for tyres or jacks, external lighting, all sorts of stuff, especially useful for green-laners and campers when they're miles from anywhere. ;)
