After standing without a battery for 5 weeks and 1 day, I was expecting trouble this morning with remote key fobs, engine immobilisation and maybe even the alarm going off once I'd popped in the new battery.
But no - it started beautifully on the first turn of the key. What a lovely baby - and a 1997 vintage, too.
My much-trusted mechanic then took it away for a look over. The reason I couldn't close the sliding sunroof cover turns out to be that the headlining is so waterlogged its expanded and wedged the cover in the open position.
Fortunately, I remember reading a thread about soggy headlinings, so I'd better get off and refresh my memory.
