And I'm so glad I fitted a roof rack and more to the point, left it on for off roading that day!

But before I jump the gun... a little back story... So me and a few guys from my club are mucking about in a friends' woodland, I'm running bald grizzlys as I'm waiting to fit new boots, after a little encouragement I agree to attempt a menouver over some very slippery wet leaves/clay combo and promptly get stuck! Not a problem, out with the kinetic, on the front of mine and on the back of my mates 90, a quick tug and off we go again... Not the case. How neither of us noticed the large mound stopping the progress of the front nearside wheel is beyond me! Anyway, the kinetic did it's job pulling me out of the rough stuff, straight into the mound and over we go straight onto it's roof! Engine switched off... climb out the window... laugh it off as the beginnings of a convertable project!

So we winch it back onto its wheels.... pick up all the crap that ejected from the open windows, then stand in awe as we look at the damage.... or lack of! Ok so the roof rack is a little flattened, and the windscreen has developed the same fault as every iPhone I've seen due to the snorkel being harder than glass, but other than that its fine! None of the side windows have broken, which is surprising as my entire tool box hit the roof and emptied it's self all over the car!

So the total sum of damage was the windscreen, now replaced with a second hand item for £30, a slightly mis-shapen nearside rear quarter, a scratched bonnet, a bent roof rack and a bruised ego!

If there is ever a testiment to a piece of kit saving the car its the roof rack, it flattened and took all the brunt of the roll. I'm sure that if this little incident had happened without the rack fitted I'd be looking for a replacement vehicle right now...

Funny you should say that.... My mates were up for a quick service while it was that way up!! Actually... That sounds wrong...
