HI all im considering fitting a safari snorkel to my disco 96 v8,does any one have a picture they could put up of how it fits to the air intake as im hoping by fitting it,it will free up my second battery tray.

snorkels fit to the air box but why do you wanna free up ur 'second battery tray'? dunt forget to water proof ya lectrics or is it just fer show?

Id like to instal a second battery to power all the auxillary stuff (roof lights,c.b,invertor e.t.c)and just have the main battery for cranking and my winch i had a snorkel on my last disco and i do like the look.

wouldnt you put the second battery next to the other one? not on the other side of the bay. The snorkel will come through the passenger side and using a dog leg pipe will attach to the side of your airbox, the kit comes with a blanking plate for the origonal air intake

yep u hardly need a second battery unless your doing winch challenges or overland trips, a decent single battery would do ya

A snorkel will only free up the battery tray if you remove the airbox ...

And if you're wanting a second batttery, It'd be more sensible to use it for the winch and auxiliary lights on a split-charge system (do a search, loads of info about) .. winches can really drag a battery down, and you don't want the starting battery running down whilst off-roading!!

If you just plumb it in in parallel with the existing you'll just drag both batteries down.

Totally agree, the second battery to be a "DEEP CYCLE" so it can cop the abuse of being drawn down, unlike normal cranking battery, and to be isolated by dual battery system for auxlry and winching.

Snorkle correctly fitted is best guarantee against hydraulicing your engine, and also gives you cleaner air, should not go into anything but shallow water without one.
