snorkel fitting

Got a safari snorkel 2nd hand with no fitting instructions..
It's attached to the wing still so can use that to make a template..

Problem is, I've come to work with the intention of buying tools to do the job tmoz, but I don't kno what size the big hole needs to be.. can't measure it cos its at home an I'm at work..

So that size hole saw do I need for the inner and outer wing?

found the answer on you tube of all places... 83mm

You could save a few quid and mark the hole on the wing and chain drill around just inside the mark with say a 5mm drill then file the hole to size.

I have done loads of holes like this, cover the area in masking tape first as it will be easy to see and also stops the drill slipping.

might end up doin that as i cant find anywhere to get a 83mm hole saw in leeds.. tried halfrauds, screwed n fixed, machine pricey mart..

will keep lookin, but not lookin good for gettin one for tmoz...

can you not swap the wings? it'd save cutting yours up and a lot of time?

if you dont have a hole saw; we fitted one last weekend and used a jigsaw to cut the hole. bang tidy.

tis on the entire wing...

but was removed with a lump hammer by the looks of it... all the mounting points down the back of the wing r mangled...

topps tiles (i kno i must be getting desperate) to a 83mm bi metal hole saw with arbour.. for £7.. only gonna use it once, so may be worth it to save time drilling 30 small holes and filing..

I just drilled out a hole in my wing, and did as above with 5mm drill bit, didn't take long at all, and no outlay

gotta jigsaw, could use that i suppose..

but dont think it will do hole in inner wing? no access for jigsaw..

might just end up drillin with 5mm as ya suggest..

yeah no problem doin snorkel..

bigger problem is clutch.. just started a new thread in disco section..

peddle to the floor and the i can barely get into 1st when stationary.. thinkin clutch fork!

ok.... i done it....

fitted the safari snorkel and a defender airbox.... woo hoo..

next problem?

how do i connect the airbox to the original ducting on the injun..
