Am thinking about making a snorkel for my V8, the problem is I have no air box just a k&n filter, If I buy the mushroom type filter for the top will this be enough ??

Did a search and got loads of info on how to do it but most had a air box in the pics

Best bet is to get an enclosed cone filter, something like a BMC CDA or cheaper/similar, this way you've got a inlet and outlet fitting for hoses, in a sealed casing.

Easy job :)

Second option, although quite frowned upon i guess. But still cheap...

Route your intake upto the top of your snorkel, and stick the filter on the top of your snorkel.

It will work for sure, i have seen many disco's running like this. Just be carefull when green laning that it dont get snapped off. Engines dont like sucking in leaves

thats the way I was thinking but wasnt sure

Like i said, bmc cda is the idea but there are cheaper copies around.

K&n, pipercross viper, etc etc, or just an eBay special.

A hose fitting on either end makes it easy to add the snorkle pipes.

Filter on top of snorkel works, also helps to avoid large amounts of water/mud being sucked down the snorkel BUT they do look well gay and it leaves the filter vulnerable.

Cheers :)

yeah thats what I have found a cheapy tube fitler(like the bmc) didnt really want the filter at the top of the snorkel just tight on room

Wicked innit bruv!Big up the posse!etc etc ......

....note the gen-you-wine sticky back plastic carbon style effect....

....seriously though,I was looking at gutter downpipes and joints in Trago Mills earlier and it looked like I could make a snorkel out of that for one of my many sit-in-a-field disco's.How did you do yours?

...and how much was the chav box?

The bling air box is £18 from t'bay havent started it yet but 70mm drain pipe and a few bends should do it,

Athough I might just bite the bullet and get the real deal, either way I still need the bling, pop a cap in ya arse air box
