It seems that every other bolt I undo snaps, now I will be doing the EGR soon how do I prevent snapping there?

And I am using penetrating oil, and I am putting a drop of grease when I refit on some.

Even ran a die down a couple of bolts before refitting.

The 2 bolts at the exhaust manifold end can be a pain, a mate of mine had one that was rounded, we got it out with pump pliers and lots of MAPP gas...

tight bolts should be givenn a good crack with a hammer and drift first ,also can be done to swell head to help with rounded heads

Thanks both, I think I am going to check any needed for maintenance and get them sorted.

Just need to find my copper grease.

Good job I have lots of M6 and M8 bolts!

With them sitting high in a nice warm engine bay and not being part of the exhaust, you should find that these will be among the few fasteners that won't snap off.

I used some plus gas over a few days just to be on the safe side.

Managed to loosen one today, need to remove the fan to try the other.

Look slike de EGR will not be too hard

A dose of silicon oil each day for 3 days before I tackled the EGR delete and I had no troubles. There was a "is it going to snap?? CRACK PHEW! " moment... Didn't have to remove the fan to do mine (10P TD5). I guess it depends upon what allen bit/key/wrench combination you have. I did remove the fan shroud though.
