Hi All I'm sure this has been posted before but i can't seem to find what i'm after.

All i want is a shopping list of all the correct components too put a snap off wheel in my 98 300tdi Defender. (for security reasons mainly with the benefit of a smaller wheel also)

Looking on-line i see so many different things, i don't know which boss/wheel etc to get!

Alternatively if there's anyone flogging the whole kit i will buy it off them!?

Thanks in advance!

Sold my Snap-Off adaptor last year.

The Snap-Off adaptor fits between the wheel & boss so you need them before you start.
Establish which column you have and then order yourself an industry standard 6-hole boss & wheel from the wide range availabe to you (the Mountney "Classic" range aren't industry standard). When you have these you fit the fixed portion of the adaptor to the boss and the removable portion to the wheel. Simples!

You will find that the wheel sits quite a bit further away from the stalks, my wife hated it but I got used to it and used it like this for many years. Last year I decided to have the boss cut-down & rewelded which brough the wheel much closer to the original position, I then decided to get rid of the Snap-Off adaptor as well which means everything is in easy reach again.

Just found these, compare the first photo of the original boss + Snap-Off adaptor with the current set-up of modified boss, the distance between the wheel and the stalks in the first one is considerable whereas now it is easy fingertip reach again.
I did live with it like that for many years but eventually got fed up of it. I think that if I had had the boss modified first then I would probably stuck with it but I didn't and got rid of the Snap-Off adaptor.
