Just purchased some zx1 extralube ,, anyone have any thoughts/comments on this (not the purchase the product) I was a little reluctant to add it to the cooling system wondering about emulsifying so rang the team up and was assured it was ok .. used it in the engine oil and put some in the fuel tank.. First long run tomorrow to test, has anyone else used this ?

Why would you add oil treatment to the cooling system are you crazy?

your cooling system isn't designed for oil

here is a link of another

Just curious if your not paying attention to servicing your own vehicle, then why should we be surprised if people fall for snake oil. If a car manufacturer recommends putting oil in the cooling system then why had it not be added when it left the factory floor.

Why do you want to use these products at all, if you needed them there would be used by the vehicle manufacturers at normal servicing, regular oil and filter changes are the answer to looking after your engine, these products just gunk up your oil ways and engine, as for putting it in your cooling system whoever told you to do that want his head looking at, my advice is to never use anything but a good oil of correct grade and use landrover filters for oil and fuel. (Especially fuel filter) and a good quality longlife antifreeze in your cooling system, the only benefit these products have is lining the pockets of those that try and flog them to you. They are totally un-necessary.

I'm confused

You say you were concerned about putting it in the cooling system (don't....really, really don't) but you've put it in the engine oil and fuel.

If that's right it won't do any harm. Won't do much good either mind.

The "tin catalysts" that you put in your fuel tank seem to have reappeared.
There's a full page advert in some of this month's LR magazines.
With claims of much improved performance and economy....
Seem to get round it by quoting customer testemonials. "The car just pulled and pulled"
"The garage asked if it had been remapped" (after dropping the pellets in the tank)
And the old "developed for Merlin engines on the Russian Front in WW2"
Plus "Michael Winner has used the pellets in his Classic cars for fifteen years"

I've got a motoring magazine from 1934 that has a similar advert (well, without Michael Winner....and the Merlin)

Next to the advert for the "self assembly asbestos garage, £60" and a trumpet shaped device to fit on the end of your exhaust pipe, called the "Cornette" which will give "much improved performance and economy"

Normally as you grow older you dont tend to fall for the salemans carp so much, but some people are just born for it.

Whenever anyone (normally a truck driver) says their motor pulls and pulls, what they really mean is its so kin underpowered it has no choice but to pull and pull as it hasnt got enough power to get up to cruising speed.
Ask any supermarket truck driver:D

Drain your coolant Mate oil will properly goo it all up.

Did your Mum ever say to you "never put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow" ?
Well just like that, don't put anything in your vehicle's engine sump other than the manufacturers recommended oil, as said, that other 5hit just sits in the bottom of the sump or blocks things up, money for old tat.
