Sorry to drag this thread out but I have just cured a smoking 2.25 Diesel.

I was at my whits end and about to do an engine change so I took extreme measures.
The pump would not adjust as it was advanced as far as it would go ( to compensate for chain stretch ) so I got a rats tail file and made the pump holes longer so it would advance more.

Filed about 3mm out each slot and refitted.

WOW its brand new, What a difference ! No more white smoke on start up, no more slight miss with a puff of smoke, no more huge white clouds when driving. It is honestly clear as a daisy.

What a transformation.
Saved me lots of work and has worked mint.

Regards Steve

Did he ? Nice one.
But would you care to comment if this can create any damage or rather is there anything wrong with doing this ?
I understand the cure is rebuild and replace the chain but why is this so bad ? thats if it is.

It saved me fitting the 2.5 leyland that I have on standby.

Feel free to tell me the technical downfalls to doing this .

never had any comebacks from doin it,used to have sum luverly diesel knocks off sum of the motas but it was dun mainly to sell knackers on out the way cus it gave the impession they still had a bit of go in em:D
personally if it was me own mota i,d do it properly and purra new chain on

p.s. never buy a mota from me:eek: :D :D

Yea I see your point. It should be done correct but I will be honest I have built this 2a from its knackers.
Chassis, axels, brakes, body etc so the way I feel now is I do not want to do an engine change yet.
Its got me gooshed with all the work...lol

So...I have a 2.5 freighty engine all done up on stand by to go in but I was just hoping to get a bit of a rest and keep the 2.25 going a bit longer.

Honest it works like a dream and it is as good as you can expect. One of the cleanest non-smokers I have seen...lol
What do you think can happen ? will the chain keep stretching and it will go sh1t again ?
Honest if you know tell me.
I just tried to see if it would work.
But your advice will be sound..

Thanks mate Steve

ooh listen him ( Mr Gods fekkin gift )
It would help if you really knew me, how I operated and how I present myself.
Stereotype springs to mind....lol

It might also be handy to comment on the post in question.
That way we can try to educate members that visit here and try to gain advice. You know the whole point of a forum !!!!
But then who am I to say that ? I am new.

And if you did not live in a scummy area there would be no scummy taxi drivers !
Your words speak volumes and show your standards. lol
