Smokey Disco TD5

Hi all
OK my disco TD5 is starting to get really smokey its blackish smoke and its using no oil or coolant. Its covered 59,000 miles with oil changes at between 4k and 6k. I searched the forum but came out with nothing. It had a full dealer service 3 weeks ago and it still seems smokey any suggestions will put my mind at rest cheers.

do you still have your egr valve in place?
have you ever cleaned it / the intercooler or inlet manifold?

Hi no difference hot or cold. It has still got its egr valve in place and the intercooler etc hasnt been removed changed or cleaned to my knowledge.

seems to be having an easy life, oil changed at 4-6k, sould do at least double that, also has low miles too. Have u put any different fuel in it reccently, e.g from a different source. Black smoke is fuel, not usually oil etc.

Is it just on boost or all the time?

Any loss in performance at all?

I know our boats at work dont like been driven slowly cause the oil and fuel gunks up the turbos, and then they get black smoke from them. Giving them a good thrash usually does the trick and they are all good again.

Maybe give your truck a bit of a blast, I usually give mine a blast at 85-90 (Private road of coarse) every now and then on a run. Loves it!!!

yeah an italian tune up would be the first thing... then a fuel filter full of wynns clean up if you can get it then injector cleaner in the petrol.. then look to ideally fix but if not block your egr...
