seconds then stopped and seemed to run fine. After this i changed the fuel filter and cleaned the air filter
all seamed fine then done the same the other day it only happens when the engine is warm any help welcome:doh:

Make sure you don't have water in your fuel tank.

You may need to drain the tank right out to be sure.

If you want to be sure about stopping water you can fit an in-line fuel filter thing with a glass bowl water separator, and you can see the water as it gathers. Then you open a little tap and let the water run out. Job Done.

If water is getting in, the diesel fuel will absorb a little (up to about 1% or so) but any more will gather, and if it comes through the system in a dollop it can cause the symptoms you describe.

Eventually water in the fuel will cause corrosion in the injection pump and the injectors.

many thanks thiswas the way i was thinking also maybe injectors

If it was an injector problem it would be a problem all the time.

The fact that it comes in fits and starts suggests it is coming through in the fuel, and about the only thing other than diesel it can be is water.

Check your tank for a drain plug, BUT if it looks all rusty and stuck don't try it. Try taking the outlet pipe off your lift pump, attach a hose, and hand-pump a few litres into a plastic bottle. You might see water, BUT, it may only be picking up water during driving while a puddle of water sloshes around the bottom of the tank, and every so often the pickup pipe gets a little of it, and sends it through.

Pumping all the fuel out of the tank with a hose might get rid of it. You may be able to get at and open up the top of the tank to get access to pump it out.

When you find out what the cause is, let us know!

Please let us know what you find in the tank.
It's how we all gain experience.
