Here's the point where a live data log is necessary for proper diagnostic cos it might be due to erratic AAP, ECT, FT, or IAT reading, i can't just guess which one

... and the question remains... ARE YOU SURE that those shiny new glow plugs are actually getting ignition feed ??, cos the dash lamp is irrelevant in this case

Well, the garage I use is a reputable independant. Someone had fitted cheap ones earlier in the year (3 out of 4 had failed) and they tell me they were workign fine and I belive them TBH.
I've got it in for another small job at another garge (a Landy specialist) at the end of the month and will ask them to plug it in and check.
 
I can't understand how a reputable mechanic can let a customer leave it's shop with a not perfectly running engine though... but that's just me, also if you go to a specialist i presume you dont have to tell him how diagnose it, IMO the engine's age is irrelevant as long as it's running/starting as it should and it seems that your's doesnt... good luck
