I am a recent Freelander TD4 owner and I have a problem.
When the Landy is left overnight and started from cold, it smokes for a short while. The smoke is blue and from previous experience with other cars, this tells me it is the valve stem oil seals.
Can this be right?? It has only done 37000 miles and is an 2003 model.
Can it be anything else?
If not, how easy are the seals to change?

Many thanks and what a great forum

see, just cos it wur valve stem seals before dunt mean it is this time.. blue smoke =burning oil. so could be worn bores and or rings, too much oil in sump, leaky turbo seals, head gasket and a few other things.

That's it cheer him up why don't you!

Hope it's nothing too serious.

Cheers!!! Thanks for the reply.
Slob, are you a mechanic???

Its the sort of response I used to give when I worked on the spanners:D

I was just wondering if there was anything perculier to this engine/freelander that will give these symptoms, before I start ripping it apart.
