Got p38 2.5td with new battery on turns over quick enough but take a while before she fire up properly would any one have a idea

As Wammers said, glow plugs from cold. If it's a hot start problem then FIP timing.

Make sure the glow plugs are not the cheap Chinese ones, they are useless. Go for quality, I put NGK's in. No problems even when well below zero. Think Beru are the recommended ones

Beru are brilliant. Well worth the extra cash. I put the part numbers up somewhere. Got mine from Eurocarparts with one of their discount codes.

Beru are very good, well worth the extra if you have an earlier model with hotstart, not an issue for a MY2000 like yours

Ngk, beru or Bosch.
You can check the resistance but it's not a five minute job on the '38 and if your taking the inlet manifold off to check the resistance your already half way there to replacing them!! Clean the inlet manifold interior while it's off.
And don't forget a little copper slip on the glow plug threads when they go back into the head. or grease if not copper slip.

NGK, Beru or Bosch as others have said, but in addition they have to be the correct voltage which is NOT 12 volts, so the right part number is important.
