Slow diesel road test

Flat road no wind pulling away in 2nd, pity i cant put the vid on here
changed from 2nd to 3rd at 25mph in about 10secs
got to 40mph in 3rd in about 20 secs with a max speed in 3rd of 45mph
In 4th i got 55mph in 39 secs and back to zero in about 46secs
it must be running well today it went up a hill in 4th at steady 40mph!

il give it a go, its a bit wobbly, changing gear, watching dials and road etc

Fast

Anything much more than 45mph on a 2 1/4 diesel is a bonus. 55 is possible with good ear defenders and no mechanical sympathy.

Everything is standard so should be accurate but not checked, i know I ran out of road fast!

I used to get 70 out of my 19j engined 90.
Was a bit smokey though.

Here you are 0-100kmh test which is roughly 0-60mph - I could have held it in each gear a touch longer I think, but I changed up when it sounds ‘right’

Not easy to do tbh lol, also I don’t have access to a straight piece of private road, only a long curved one lol

That was impressively quick and probably a bit scary! i dont think you set off till 5 secs on the vid, engine/diffs all standard?
Need someone with a series di now which is what i might do

Yeah standard 200tdi, fuel pump not tweaked, on standard diffs and 1.410 (standard) transfer box, 7.50 tyres

It’s a soft top 90 so the lightest defender made

I may accept the challenge on a 200Di SWB series 3 currently with my 205 tyres Ashcroft high rastio transfer box and 4.7 diffs.
Had issues with power a few months back new fuel filter sorted it and seems frightening to me at 67years old.
Will find a suitable piece of road and report back soon.

Brill, nice to see a Di , your safety is paramount of course, although it does help if you steer with the knees and hold phone in between teeth, do something scary everyday keeps you young so they say!
