I have just bought a disco 4 my 5th Landy

problems my diagnostic is throwing up door locks on drivers side
Not enough air getting through for suspension (sometimes won’t go up and down)
And Electric hand brake doesn’t work

any suggestions what to do first and costs ?

Door latches quite common on all disocveries through the ages, to be fair its a problem on oher makes as well.
New ones about 80 quid, some people have stripped them down and replaced either the failed microswitch or the electric motor, I did try but it is like a greasy rubix cube!

Suspension can be anything,
Most common is compressor itself, code reade will tell you tank pressure and more importantly compressor temperatue, when its shagged, it will run super hot and cut out.
Dessicant dryer can fail and fill the system full of dessicant dust which stops the o rings sealing, o ring kits on ebay 17 quid which does all three valve blocks
But without codes you are wasting your time, as it could just be a dead height sensor/pressure sensor, fuse or relay.

EPB also needs coedes read, as could just need resetting and adjusting, could be dead switch/fuse/relay.

Most of the probs with D3 and D4 are down to lack of tlc or lack of knowledge that tlc is needed.

Search for Gstuart on here, hes bit of a susp guru.

Will grab the codes in a bit thank you

I cleared the drivers door code and it hasn’t come back but the door doesn’t lock there are no codes for the handbrake

I have no idea where the ride level control moduel is located, Gstuart will know, but invalid data could be a sensor fault, ie duff sensor = invalid data?
Does the icarsoft show the level sensor outputs/compressor temps/pressures?
Second pic sounds like compressor dead or dying, AMK is meant to be the best, previous owner fitted AMK to my D3 and 5.5 yrs later it is still working.
Some dead cheap copy ones one ebay, whether they are any good or not?

Hi

plus 1 what’s already been mentioned

U codes can usually be ignored , alas doesn’t give a date stamp when the codes came up , can show up from a low battery , so indeed clear all the codes and see what comes back

the eas ECU is on the drivers side , tucked up on the Rh side of the A pillar , but that’s a U code so wouldn’t worry too much about it

as mentioned ur compressor is either getting tired, will the reader give u pressure readings of the compressor

can Also have a leak , which would indicate a fault , rear should always raise first , ( reason is because it doesn’t cause glare when ur lights are on )

there’s a pressure sensor in the reservoir valve block, the ecu looks for a signal , if the pressure doesn’t increase/ decrease it sends a message back and causes the error light to come up

door lock , I would get that changed ASAP as if that superlocks shut ur be in a lot of trouble , at least remove the door card for now , just in case , until u get a new lock

Plse have a look and see what make of compressor u have , if ur unsure , take a pic and we can always help

see if u can get any pressure , also temperature of the air compressor

does it drop at all overnight plse

hope that at least helps

Sorry I forgot ref ur handbrake , are there any warnings on ur display , if nothing maybe the shoes need adjusting

but plenty here to always help and can go through it step by step

lastly , plse ensure the belts have been done

What module to I need to get for the drivers door ? And if I order an apk pump are they universal for the d3 and d4 ?

AMK, i think D4 had AMK as std, D3 had soem otehr carp, and the mod was to upgrade to the D4s AMK set up.

No lights on dash for hand brake but no sound of anything doing anything lol
Turbos were done recently

hiya

that’s just where ur suspension ecu is, u won’t have to get to that

just need to establish what type of compressor u have , if u remove the plastic cover underneath the disco and take a pic and post it here can tell u if it’s an hitachi / dunlop or AMK

as the hitachi and AMK arnt a straight swap so indeed always best to check beforehand what one u have

Does it drop over night at all or just a tired compressor , always best to check the live data first with ur diagnostics

Just thinking of ur pocket

hiya

have a look at the fuses to see if it’s been removed , maybe theres a fault with the hand brake system and someone has just pulled the fuse

it’s fuse 9 in the lower glove box , top right hand side i think, 5 amp

fuse 39 is rear passenger window , just in case that’s popped , I used some window glass suckers to hold the glass up

Plse let us know as can find instructions for u ref that rear door motor

hope that helps
