Hi guys

Has anyone got one of these slick shifters on their defender, there is a young lady at work who is looking to buy her dad one for crimbo, she asked me if they were any good?

I have not got one fitted but have driven a friends vehicle that has and I did not like it. But the reason for that was personal preference.
I have a 110 and a series III and have driven had my 110 as a main vehicle since before passing my test. I did not like the feel of the short throw as it is "not what a land rover should feel like" and for me felt wrong. However my friend was used to little hot hatchs and really didn't like the fact that you actually had to move the gearstick in a land rover to select a gear. From my understanding of them there is no mechanical benefit to them, all they do is adjust feel of the gear change by reducing the movement needed. This is only beneficial if it is what the drivers wants or is used to.
