Morning,
I'm trying to find a source for original tyres for a '74 Series 3.
Keen to keep this one as original as possible.

can anyone let me know the type, where it can be picked up or if there is a modern equivalent

The other trucks all have modern sized ATs on them but the new 109 is on original wheels and I'm struggling to sift this information out.
cheers

richard

Avon Rangers were original fitment on some Series IIIs.
The Rangemaster is still available, and has a period look.
I ran a set from new on my 88", and found them OK. Maybe not up to a more modern tyre in terms of wet road grip, but then you're not supposed to drive a series like a hooligan - on the road :D

from what I understand about the Avon tyre, the ranger you are referring to is the old crossply Mk2 7.5 tyre, the sort of tyre Desperate Dan would use on his pushbike rather than the modern Avon ranger which appears to be designed for dealing with the bumpy white line running along the road outside the hair salon, must be for Evoque drivers!

Yes, I'd like to get a set of crossplys, would go with the whole 1950's tech driving experience, you have to keep em legal on each axle through.

I'm going to drop Longstone Tyres an e mail to find out if they stock anything. There the sort of place you go should you fancy a set of new rubber for your austin 7 or ford model T, you know ...low profile...high speed type tyres rather than wooden rims Mr chomondeley Warner

Thanks for Michelen call - ouch a tad costly though, I understand that toto do a similar one for considerably less.
