skinflint axle mod
Hi all
my name is Paul i am a mechanic with 32 years in the trade i am currently building a disco for off/on road use but this is on a budget
Has anybody ever tried moveing the radius arm brks on the front axle to correct the castor instead of buying £250 radius arms
now your all thinking can it be done all that money i spent

well now what i need is an old axle case to play with watch this space i have all ready made steering /diff / tank covers 2 inch lift shock droppers and 60 mm spacers fitted extra large def arches and a roof bar that was a book case

the main reason other than castor correction, is that cranked radius arms reset the chassis bush allowing full travel(standard bush will allow 11-12" of droop) from the new running height

Is it possible to lower the bracket on the other end of the arm to compensate?

I lowered the bracket at the chassis end it keeps the arm more horizontal, rides over bumps better at speed and less bump steer.

Your a bit good at that sort of thing so viable for you:cool:
As soon as you mod chassis mounts iva time

Ah yes good point mine don't go on the road, but then no different to welding axles or bending arms.
Its all a bit weird, but it seems with trucks ive done which went for iva they dont care about arms and stuff but as soon as you touch the chassis it all goes down hill
