Hi, Hope you can help. I have an Airbag warning light on my Discovery 4. This happened after my roofliner install and airbag reconnection.

Would it be best to buy a diagnostic tool to find the fault it is there another way you’d suggest?

Thanks

Never had a D3 or D4, but the first thing I'd ever buy would be a diagnostic kit for one ... sorry I can't help with the specifics!

Correct, it pins into the airbag cylinder. I was looking for a similar connector on a wire. The other side had been cut so I couldn’t see it. Thanks for all the help, appreciated.

Always happy to help if ur still stuck

That's the trouble with multiple threads!!

Indeed, thought the op would have tagged onto the end of his other thread, when he said thks I assumed it was resolved , but alas now has an air bag light on

Have been there myself replacing curtain airbags etc and took months to finally resolve everything so because of that learnt where a lot of the places are to look and where to test :D

As u can see , hunt the fault, lol

But sadly I enjoyed the challenge

My latest project is im currently looking for a parasitic battery drain, keeps me the old grey matter ticking over , lol

Apart from feeling like there’s enough wires to go to the Cornwall and back, ;)

As U can see there’s onky a few wires going across the bodies floor ;)

Also being able to find just that one wire thats causing all the havoc within the system lol

Thanks, everyone, sorry for the multiple threads and the delay in coming back to you all. I've been buried in a bunch of parts to fit over the last week. All the information has been hugely helpful.

I took Paul's advice and bought a diagnostic scanner, to help identify what the airbag warning message. I was hoping it was the disconnect airbag that I discussed with gstuart, however that's not the case. The error code that is been thrown up is b00d2-68/permanent which indicates Restraint System Malfunction Indicator 1, any ideas how you identify what this refers too?

I managed to download a workshop guide, but the code doesn't feature in it. Once I locate the issue I can start troubleshooting.

Hi

No worries and great u bought a diagnostic reader, which one did u buy please

Ref the restraint system

Check under both front seats , ur see a black connector block with a bolt in the middle of it, see if the yellow wires are connected , if there not, please don’t just plug them in,

You have to disconnect the battery first and wait 30 x minutes before u remove or refit airbag wires

Plus are the airbags plugged in behind those D pillar panels please

Also look at ur seat belt pre tensioners , as u look at the black canister are there any wires showing out of the ends plse

Can u get live ohms readings on ur airbags please, these are my readings , which showed one of my faults

Please let us know how u get on

Ps, do u know if they removed ur steering wheels airbag please

I bought an Ancel AD610 Elite.

I'd assumed that was the location, I've removed the seat cushion and was looking around. I'll check for the yellow wires tonight and let you know.

Yes, D pillar airbags are connected. Seats are pre-tensioners, there are two wires that run to the black connector block. Driver side looks ok, not checked passenger yet.

Not sure I can get live ohm readings, will need to check on the diag machine.

Cheers.

Hi,
How's your week going? I'm trying to squeeze time Landy time into a busy week, which is always fun. I check the connections under both seats. The two cables from each cylinder are connected to the block ok, same with the yellow wire for the airbags in the seat. See images attached.

I did get some interesting diagnostic readings, hopefully, you can make sense of these??

Rich

Change of reply because I noticed you’ve got 3 x errors within the airbag circuit

Might need to replace the passenger airbag switch but plse see the post after this one

Thks

Change of plan first plse

Just noticed there’s 3 x airbag faults

Numbers 10 / 11 and number 13

I bet there’s a wire unplugged behind ur headliner

Why was ur headliner removed plse

Before u do anything else , remove ur front overhead light , get a torch and u will see airbag canisters, make sure there plugged in, if they are unplugged, plse make sure u disconnect ur battery first and wait 30 x mins

Plse let us know how u get on, after you’ve checked these wires plse

Ps, can ur code reader also read fault codes plse

Hi,

Headliner was removed due to a burn. No wiring damage.

How do you know the locations of the airbags quoted in the readings? 1 to 13, I search online but no joy. If there’s faults with 10,11,13 are all these located in headliner? What about location 12 with no reading?

The fault code I received from the diagnostic was B00D2-68 permanent.

Shall I order a new passenger airbag switch?

Cheers,

Rich

Hi

I don’t know if the D 3 and D4 have the same numbers associated with the airbags , as u can see from my posts I had to remove my headliner and replace curtain airbags, trace wiring faults etc and spent months on it so gained a lot of knowledge

Number 12 could be the switch

Personally I would first remove that front light and just ensure the airbags are plugged in

Switch according to ur readings are showing a fault and will have to be replaced at some stage

Assume it was fine before the headliner was removed

It can get very involved , tracing wires out etc with a multimeter

What was the burn in the headliner plse, when did ur airbag light come on, when the burn happened or after they replaced the headliner

Thks

I saved my D4 from salvage, guess I’ve seen too many YouTube videos. I’ve built it back up over this month. It had internal burn to the roof lining. Airbag light was always on.

Tracking it back, seems to be the switch. When running diagnostic, shows switch working off but not on. I’ve ordered a new one to see. Fingers crossed.

I checked the airbags above the front light, seems fine but high ohm readings.

Definitely time consuming.

Cheers,

Rich

Hi

Ah, I’m afraid now that puts a whole different spin on it , as going from ur first post ref the headliner didn’t realise it was from salvage

The airbags could have been cut out and all sorts of things been done,

I bought mine as a project and found out some had been cut out and also is a pain tracking all the wires and finding all the routes they take , that’s why it took me a good few months going through everything

Inc all the impact sensors , main ecu etc

Indeed try that switch and might be lucky

Hopefully u dont have to start replacing airbags , see how u get on with the switch

Read the faults again , clear them and see what comes back plse
