side trim and steps

as it says , having just found some black holes behind mine i was thinking of leaving the trims off , and if the kids can get in and out , maybe the sidesteps off too .
any advice ?

the day i got mine i took the steps/bullbar/plastic sills etc off, i hate them they shouldnt be on a 'proper' 4x4

plastic off, steps off, treesliders on, look the part n u can use em at steps too

yep and it stops all the mud from being thrown up under the bottom of the doors

ditch the sil corrosion accelerators, and then lose the steps - then fit sliders/tree bars

weld the holes up an bang some tree sliders on

OMG, I have bought some Bearmach side steps and have not yet got round to fitting them.

Yeah you want to remove all the trim/ steps and get some Tree Sliders on...

Anyone do tree sliders for a Disco 2 ?

Just leave em in the shed mate, no one will find them. Next time the scrap man calls, get rid of them.

I couldnt believe the weight of them when i took them off mine, 22kgs of extra weight just so the kids can get in better, well i say ****em cant wait to see how they try and get in when its had a lift.

Side steps are that heavy 'cos they're little better than thick metal tubing .. indeterminate origin, the cheapest of cheap crap, and as strong and useful offroad as a chocolate bar that's melted. Decent square tubed rock/tree sliders of a similar size might have 1/4 the size wall thickness, be far lighter and way stronger.
