Side steps

Bought some side steps for my defender but I don't like how low they're, has anyone ever cut them so they're closer and don't hang so low.

I would just put them on ebay and buy some tree sliders but the outriggers on my defender have been wielded and aren't straight.

No it's the XS style ones, think i'll just have to take the hit and put them on Ebay.

is this basically an ad for your unwanted side steps? I am casually looking for some low hanging ones. Some are so high you might as well just get in in one big lunge.

How can your outriggers not be on straight? The rear ones go through the chassis and attach to the body/petrol tank

Not an ad to sell them just asking to see if anyone had this problem before, the ad I bought them from had the steps nearly flush with the sill.
One of the outriggers rushed in half so when it was fixed it wasn't welded straight. I've read on here some people have a nightmare getting tree sliders on with the build up of rust, mine are rusty as well.
