Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me what the actual name of the part is that sits behind the sills on a landrover, the bit you can hang steps on.

On a 2 door van type 110 this part doesnt run the length of the body like the station wagon 110, is it possible to get this part and fit it onto the 2 door 110. I bought a set of full length side steps only to find that I can only mount at the front of vehicle just under door.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks for that.
So the long rail that runs behind the sills is the outrigger, I cant seem to find this listed on paddocks site, any ideas where I can get this bit

It's not the outrigger, it's the sill channel. Don't know what year ye've got, so here's both types....

up to LA924784
MWC1086 (right hand)
MWC1087 (left hand)

from LA924785
ALR5294 (rh)
ALR5295 (lh)

hope that helps

Just seen yer signature :s

Thanks for all that,

Mondo I dont know what parts you mean..

I took a look at the steps you mentioned busterbus and the ones i have are these

Sidesteps UK - Land Rover and Range Rover side steps and chrome style side bars

You can see in the picture that there is a vertical spar at each end of the step and that it fits just behind the sill.
I bought these heavy tubular steps fo about £195, I jut assumed they would suit my 1995 110 van type, however when I looked at the intructions it says to hang step on this rail and to brace it with the spars onto the chassis itself,(outriggers) it wasnt until I got under the landrover that I saw that the rail stops short, I imagine these steps would fit onto a four door 110 and that the rail would be longer on this model. I really dont want to end up putting them in the loft with all the other bits.

Thanks for all that,

Yella, with respect, if you look at the picture of the side step you can Clearly, see, that there are vertical brackets that mount just behind the sill, the bit you are talking about is the brace wich does attach to the outrigger, never the less thanks to everyone for their help.
