Want to do side exit exhaust, but wondering whether to remove middle section aswel and have it straight through. Does gettin rid of middle section make big difference to power, sound, etc and what about mot?

You need some back pressure or you will lose torque low down and in the mid-range which is where you need it - straight-through exhausts are great when you are pulling 6000 rpm but when does a LR ever do that?

Remove the cats, put a sports silencer on just after the y-piece and then have two 2.25 in pipes going out in parallel on the passenger side.

Real Steel do a silencer with one pipe in and two out that should suit your requirements...so do John Woolfe Racing.

will sound lovely

Diesels need no back pressure, at all, the smoother and less restrictive the exhaust the better but to be honest you would barely notice the difference if you had a straight pipe just a loud drone when the turbos spooled up

im running fully straight through on my 300 tdi and love the sound, can here the turbo on idle and i sounds amazing on short bursts of power, it does drone but im used to loud exhausts and it doesnt bother me, it wasnt as bad before i took all the interior out either

Did u buy or make exhaust? I want a stainless coz u get that extra throaty noise to them but they ain't cheap. Was thinking of cutting flanges off exhaust that's on now coz it's nearly new and welding to stainless pipe?!?

Sorry Nick

I was under the impression you had a V8 under the hood.

Diesels are a different kettle of fish - straight-through pipes are fine.

I think you would still want some sort of small muffler to stop any drone at cruising speeds.

mines straight throu, i cut the back box off then welded a new pipe on from there, and used a 4" pipe cutter job done, and cheq plate ring to finsh it off
