Should I get the Bearmach lift kit for my Freelander?

They're not exactly cheap and they don't come without their flaws. (increased strain on other parts etc) but I've already ripped my entire exhaust off before as a result of the low ground clearance.

yes they make a huge difference and fit bigger tyres while your there :) best thing i ever did :)

dont burn it you already have a proper land rover :)

I already have new tyres though. 225/70/15 General Grabber ATs. Will a 2" lift make them look much smaller?

Nah it's defo not a proper Landy and I can admit that. After having driven a unmodified Disco 1 300 tdi last week at a pay & play I can safely say that my TD4 is NOTHING in comparison. Seriously, the disco just did it all effortlessly, no complaints what so ever. I was wrong to even question its capability because it did things I wouldn't even dream of doing in my TD4. If I had tried it in my TD4, I would have ripped my entire exhaust off. (again!)

Still, I'm paranoid about rust so I don't think I could ever live with one...

that must of been a bitter pill to swallow :D,
what are gaylanders immune from rust then?

mine is a auto not sure what yours is but the autos are so much better offroad than the manuals as for the exhaust dont find that bad either protects the vcu loads of dents but it still works been to offroad sites greenlanes lro offroad courses its done it all with ease and like you say the bodys dont rot :)

with lift kit bigger tyres proper sump guard and the auto its awesome and a proper land rover :) well i think so anyway:)

I like that. With the 15's on and large tyres, it doesn't look under wheeled at all. It looks very purposeful. Can you not just get a custom exhaust company to make you a much smaller rear box?

The backbox isn't the main problem. I find that the exhaust section between the middle box and the backbox is the main cause of concern as it hangs quite low and there's a nasty bend that can easily catch on a tree stump/small rock etc.

your spot on about the freeander being too low,i found out last week ,i drove down the smallest bank and ripped the middle section off, allthough it wasnt expensive to replace,iv just brought the 50mm lift kit ,new camber bolts, plus two second hand front shocks just to cut the steering arms off to bolt and weld ontop old ones to raise the hieght so i dont get the rubbing on the inner wheel arch problem plus it wont upset mr mot man,lot of faffing around for 50mm but hope it will be worth it when the snow comes again

Do not for get when you have fitted the lift kit the rear diff is still the same hight of the ground unless you have bigger wheels then you need to upgrade your speedo to much trouble and me and the wife have proper landrovers both freelanders mines a TD4 Auto and her in doors is a 1800 petrol but she is thinking about a td4 auto

umm, the Freelanders diff is attached to the subframe, not axles..if you fit a lift kit it lifts the car/subframe/diff with it.

Only 4x4's with a common drive axle and fixed diff suffer from not lifting after fitting a kit old bean. :D
