Should I buy a Nanocom?

I know there are various threads about what they can be used for etc. but I’m
thinking of buying one. Various reasons but mainly because I’m doing the North Coast 500 in September (which is almost 500 miles each way to get to as well). My EAS plays up on occasion (I know that’s a real shock) and I have a kicker but just thinking there is more I can do around the immobiliser.

It’s that point between it’s a lot of money but if she won’t start in the middle of nowhere and it would fix the issue I can’t help think it’s worth it.

Thoughts please.

Definitely, when some garages charge north of 50 quid just to read fault codes, it will pay for itself in no time.

Many people do much bigger mileages than that (some weekly) with no issues.If it was a diesel and knew I was keeping the car for at least 5 years I would get one. Otherwise I would have a look at the LZIR map first. If there's a member nearby with a Nanocom they can turn off EKA and passive immobiliser for you.

Datatek's lead and the free EAS suite will sort the EAS for £20. If it needs the kicker then something is wrong, either a connector somewhere or a height sensor acting up, most likely.

I'd also have the gen 3 RF receiver or Matyuk's filter and a decent battery. After that it should be reliable enough.

Definitely get a Nanocom, you will always be able to sell it for close to what you paid for it if you no longer need it.

If it’s a P38 yes. EAS see Data ^^^

I know my EKA better than my own name, have 1000cca battery and new fob batteries (x2 fobs) so only time I can see I would HAVE to have a Nanocom is if I get loss of sync long way from home.

Then I would be stuffed

Apart from that I shouldn’t need need one, Is a gamble but Nanocom is more than I payed for my vehicle so il take my chances
